De Rosario a Asunción 2022: se viene el gaming en los Juegos Odesur
La carpa de Esports fue furor en los Juegos Suramericanos de la Juventud y la organización trabaja para incluirlos en la próxima competencia, en Paraguay, en octubre.
Una multitud de niños recorrió día a día el Fan Fest de los Juegos Suramericanos de Rosario 2022, sobre el Bulevar Oroño: participan de diferentes actividades relacionadas a deportes como el hockey, rugby y básquet, entre otros. Y, entre tantas disciplinas, también fue furor la carpa de gaming a cargo de Pulsar – Industrias Creativas. Un anticipo de lo que se viene en los próximos Juegos Odesur.

La carpa de gaming de Rosario 2022 se encuentra sobre el Bulevar Oroño, cerca del Centro Principal de Premiación: está equipada con unas 20 computadoras que esperan a jóvenes (en partidas invitacionales) para jugar al Fortnite, League of Legends, Rocket League, PES y al FIFA. Además, cuentan con simuladores para el Turismo Carretera.
“Ha sido lo más popular fuera de lo deportivo. Tiene un cierto límite de público. Hay cola siempre. Es el futuro. Estamos apostando a la juventud. Es el camino”, expresó Mario Cilenti, director ejecutivo de Odesur.
El gaming, flamante disciplina para los Juegos Odesur
Odesur, que cuenta con una alianza con la Global Esports Federation, trabaja para incluir juegos electrónicos en los próximos Juegos Odesur Asunción 2022, en octubre. “Principalmente, la idea es comenzar esa integración de los deportes tradicionales, los deportes olímpicos, con el mundo Esports. Es una tendencia mundial. Aquí se está haciendo una activación, pero en Asunción ya habrá un Esports Championship dentro de los Juegos”, explicó Cilenti.
En los próximos meses se resolverá cuáles serán los videojuegos y cómo se definirán los participantes. Lo que sí está definido es que se entregará una medalla, pero que no contará para el medallero final con el resto de las disciplinas. “Quizás en un futuro… Uno nunca sabe”, dijo el director ejecutivo de Odesur. Y agregó: “En nuestra región, los Esports no están reconocidos, pero en Asia viene un poco más adelantado y ya cuentan con una medalla como cualquier otro deporte tradicional”.
Las chances de que haya juegos electrónicos en futuros Juegos Olímpicos
Mario Cilenti, director ejecutivo de Odesur, aseguró que el Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI) ahora es más flexible al momento del debate sobre los videojuegos. ¿Una nueva disciplina en futuros Juegos Olímpicos? “El COI hace unos años no quería ni hablar del tema. Ahora, en su agenda 2020+5 específicamente habla de los deportes electrónicos, de los virtual games. Quién sabe en un futuro… Por el momento, no hay nada. Pero quién sabe en un futuro”, sentenció.
